Description
We have a wonderful Chinese export porcelain baluster-shaped tea jar canister for sale. Dating from the Qianlong period in the 18th century, it features lovely, polychromed enamelled flowers filling a large bowl or vase with a bird flying above, the same design is painted on each side of the jar. The main colour of the enamelwork is iron red and green with touches of blue, yellow, and gold. The foot of the canister has applied porcelain scrollwork decoration.
• Made around 1785
• Made in China
• Good condition – the has been a fill repair made to a chip on the top rim and a fine 3cm hairline extending from the chip on the upper rim. Due to the age, there is some wear to the enamel decoration. It also looks as if the applied scrollwork was painted with gold originally, but the gilt decoration has all but worn away. – Please see photos.
